OWL Biennale

The first “Biennale für Ostwestfalen-Lippe” was launched in 2011 with a prologue. Even for this precursor to the OWL Biennale 2012, the festival office relied on the team of Nordmann Event Consulting.

The idea of presenting Ostwestfalen-Lippe as an impressive cultural landscape through a joint major festival of the five leading cultural institutions of the region celebrated a successful premiere in 2012 at Schloss Rheda – several thousand spectators were able to experience its exquisite quality over five days at numerous events.

Musik, Schauspiel und Tanztheater wurden bei der 1. Biennale für Ostwestfalen-Lippe auf Schloss Rheda von den Kulturinstitutionen präsentiert. Unter dem Motto »LAND.SCHAFFT.KULTUR« bespielten das Theater Bielefeld und seine Bielefelder Philharmoniker, das Landestheater Detmold, das Theater Paderborn, die Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie (Herford) und die Hochschule für Musik Detmold mit dem Schloss Rheda einen besonderen Festivalort mit einer außergewöhnlichen Kulisse.

Music, theater, and dance performances were presented by cultural institutions at the 1st Biennale for Ostwestfalen-Lippe at Rheda Castle. Under the motto “LAND.SCHAFFT.KULTUR,” Theater Bielefeld and its Bielefeld Philharmonic, the Landestheater Detmold, Theater Paderborn, the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie (Herford), and the Hochschule für Musik Detmold transformed Schloss Rheda into a special festival venue with an extraordinary backdrop.
